About the role
The Actuarial Analyst delivers decision-support analytics that help clients understand and improve their risk profile. This entry-level role prepares loss projections, mod analysis, claims analytics, collateral projections, and program comparisons that clients and Advisors rely on to make coverage, retention, and renewal decisions. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker with strong technical and communication skills who can translate complex claims and financial data into clear takeaways, and who is eager to grow into a client-facing consulting role.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare loss projections, mod analysis, claims analytics, collateral projections, and financial impact analyses — including monthly client claim analytics identifying key performance trends and KPIs — that surface risk mitigation opportunities and support favorable client underwriting profiles
- Prepare analytical support for client decision-making processes, including program comparisons and structure evaluations
- Assist in data analysis to determine optimal program structure options
- Prepare and update client dashboards and presentations — including spreadsheets, charts, and interactive dashboards — that tell a clear story to support decisions and negotiations
- Participate in client and prospect meetings, taking ownership of assigned follow-up items
- Support the execution of Catastrophe Modeling analysis under the guidance of senior team members
- Establish and maintain a client service calendar outlining service commitments and deliverables
- Provide summaries of claims reviews and analytical findings to Advisors, senior colleagues, and clients as necessary
- Participate in firm-level training and awareness programs; build technical proficiency in R, SQL, Python, and data visualization tools
- Respond to ad hoc analytic requests as needed; other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting, Finance, Analytics, or related field); substantial work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- 0–2 years of relevant work experience desired but not required
- At least 1 actuarial exam (SOA or CAS) completed, with progress toward a second preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI)
- Familiarity with R, SQL, Python, or Tableau preferred
- Professional in appearance and business conduct, with a strong customer-service orientation
