About the role

About CPI

Climate Policy Initiative is an organization with international experience in public policy and finance analysis. Our mission is to help governments, companies, and financial institutions drive economic development while addressing climate change. Our vision is a sustainable, resilient, and inclusive global economy. With experts across seven international offices and a strong presence in emerging markets and developing economies, CPI combines analytical rigor with the ability to bring together key stakeholders to advance effective climate and sustainable finance solutions. In Brazil, CPI works in partnership with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio).

CPI/PUC-Rio works to improve the effectiveness of public policies and sustainable finance through evidence-based analysis, with a focus on national and subnational policies and legislation, as well as their implementation in practice. Through close engagement with federal and state governments, civil society, the private sector, and financial institutions, we help translate rigorous research into actionable solutions and more effective policy outcomes.

About the role

Under the guidance of the Program Director, the Analyst/Senior Analyst will participate in the development of robust and careful empirical analysis of climate change, environment, agriculture, land use, energy, infrastructure, and public policy. The role combines quantitative research, data science, statistical and geospatial analysis, policy research, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate for the position is focused, self-driven, and empirically curious. CPI expects the Analyst to produce high-quality materials under demanding deadlines, so the ideal candidate must also systematically demonstrate acute attention to detail and a strong capacity to prioritize when simultaneously tackling multiple tasks. The Analyst will also help in drafting research publications, academic outputs, policy reports and will interact with policymakers and stakeholders in the private, public, and non-profit sectors.  This role offers a challenging environment that requires independent thinking, collaboration, and pragmatic problem solving. In conducting analysis, the Analyst is required to work in close cooperation, often leading, a range of partners from the policy, finance, and corporate spheres, as well as with CPI teams throughout the world.
