About the role

Methodist Retirement Communities (MRC), with a mission to honor and serve older adults as an expression of Christ’s love, does so with eight senior living communities in Texas. When you join the MRC team, you get far more than a job, you get purpose, because here work means more.

MRC is seeking an encouraging Occupational Therapy Assistant to help older adults strengthen the skills they use every day. Under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist, you will translate care plans into practical, meaningful activities that support independence and quality of life.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
  • Carry out individualized treatment plans that support daily living skills, mobility, coordination, safety, and independence.
  • Teach residents practical techniques for transfers, movement, self-care, and other functional activities.
  • Assist with therapeutic activities and the safe use of adaptive equipment, lifts, pulleys, and other approved tools.
  • Observe and record resident progress, participation, behavior, and response to treatment.
  • Communicate resident changes and recommend treatment-plan adjustments to the supervising therapist.
  • Educate residents and families on home programs, basic living skills, and the care and use of adaptive equipment.
  • Complete treatment documentation accurately and on time.

Qualifications

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current, unrestricted Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state of Texas.
  • Two to three years of experience in skilled nursing, senior living, or a related setting preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience with specialized therapy programs or treatment modalities is a plus.
  • A genuine love for serving older adults and helping them maintain independence.
  • Patience, creativity, and an encouraging approach to instruction.
  • Strong observation, organization, sound judgment, and time-management skills.
  • Clear communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.

Why MRC?

MRC is a nonprofit, faith-based organization that has served Texas seniors since 1962. Here, success is measured in moments that matter: a resident regaining a skill, a family feeling supported, or a teammate knowing their work made a real difference. We are guided by our ICARE values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. If you want to bring your clinical expertise to work with purpose, connection, and heart, we would love to meet you.
