Delivery Operations Coordinator

Description

Cedar Supply is seeking a hands-on Yard Operations/Delivery Coordinator to support our lumber and fencing distribution operations. This position will work closely with our current Delivery Coordinator, assisting with order preparation, load building, inventory organization, and delivery support activities.

This role is ideal for someone with previous experience in lumberyards, building materials, fencing, warehousing, shipping, or distribution who is comfortable working outdoors, operating forklifts, handling large material loads, and ensuring orders are prepared accurately for delivery.

The successful candidate plays a critical role in ensuring efficient delivery execution, customer satisfaction, and operational effectiveness while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Requirements

Warehouse and Loading Operations

• Pull, verify, and prepare customer orders for delivery and pickup.
• Load, unload, build, and secure lumber, fencing, and other building materials safely and efficiently.
• Operate forklifts and material-handling equipment while maintaining a safe and organized yard and loading area.
• Process returned materials, support inventory organization, and ensure accurate documentation for deliveries and customer credits.
• Assist with general yard, warehouse, and delivery support activities to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Secure loads appropriately for transportation.
• Inspect materials for damage and accuracy prior to shipment.

Delivery Support

• Support the Delivery Coordinator with daily delivery operations.
• Assist with scheduling updates, delivery paperwork, and order verification.
• Coordinate with drivers to ensure loads are prepared and ready for delivery.
• Help process returns, transfers, and special delivery requests.

Customer Service & Team Support

• Assist customers picking up orders in the yard.
• Work closely with sales, operations, drivers, and warehouse personnel.
• Support other operational duties as needed to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and business software systems.
• Ability to work effectively with customers, drivers, sales personnel, and operations staff.

Preferred

• Previous experience in logistics, transportation, dispatching, warehouse operations, delivery coordination, or related fields.
• Experience working with scheduling, ERP, inventory, or order management systems.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Ability to safely access loading areas, trucks, trailers, and warehouse locations.

Work Environment

This position operates in a combination of office, warehouse, and outdoor environments. The employee will frequently interact with drivers, customers, sales personnel, and operations staff while coordinating delivery activities and supporting warehouse operations.
