Our team: The English Language Learning Content Development team creates high-quality learning experiences for teachers and learners across print, digital, and hybrid formats. The team partners closely with Product, Content Development, Production, Digital, Assessment, vendors, and other stakeholders to deliver content that is pedagogically strong, commercially relevant, and aligned with Pearson standards.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Lead Specialist, Content Developer to join our English Language Learning team. This is a senior individual contributor with deep knowledge of English Language Learning pedagogy and content development expertise in courseware, responsible for leading complex development work, solving challenges independently, and helping shape how high-quality learning content is created across print and digital products.

The role operates in a fast-moving environment where processes and ways of working continuously evolve, with AI at the centre of the transformation of content development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead complex content development across print and digital products, ensuring strong pedagogical, content and learning experience standards.

• Own content development delivery, proactively identifying and resolving content, quality, dependency and delivery challenges to keep work on track.

• Work closely with Project Managers, providing realistic development lead times, dependencies and risks, and adapting development approaches when needed.

• Provide expert guidance to Content Developers, authors and external suppliers, sharing knowledge and building capability across the team.

• Lead the adoption of AI-enabled and agentic workflows, continuously improving how content is developed to increase quality, speed and scalability.

• Collaborate across functions and with external partners to solve problems, remove barriers and enable successful delivery.

Required skills and experience:

• Significant experience in English Language Learning content development across print and digital products, with deep knowledge of ELL pedagogy and learning experience.

• Proven ability to lead complex development work independently, make sound decisions and solve content, quality and delivery challenges.

• Strong understanding of content development workflows, including estimating lead times, identifying dependencies and risks, and developing practical solutions.

• Experience working with Project Managers, authors, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams in an international environment.

• Strong understanding and practical use of AI in content development, with the ability to adapt as technologies, processes and ways of working evolve.

• Ability to influence, coach and provide expert direction without formal line-management responsibility.
