About the role
Manager, Workers’ Compensation Services
Bluegrass Orthopaedics | Full-Time
Help injured workers get the right care, and get back to work, faster.
Bluegrass Orthopaedics is looking for a Workers’ Compensation Manager to lead our workers’ comp program. You’ll own the full journey from referral to case completion, working with physicians, employers, adjusters, and nurse case managers to make us the first-choice provider for occupational injuries.
What you’ll do
- Lead and develop the workers’ comp team: hiring, coaching, setting service standards, and building a culture of accountability and teamwork
- Oversee the workflow from referral through return to work, including referral response times, appointment access, authorizations, physician documentation, surgery coordination, and employer follow-up
- Build strong relationships with employers, adjusters, third-party administrators, nurse case managers, and community partners
- Partner with physicians and physician liaisons to deliver responsive communication and measurable results
- Track and report on KPIs such as referral growth, revenue, employer retention, documentation turnaround, and patient and physician satisfaction, then act on what the numbers tell you
- Spot ways to improve efficiency and put best practices in place
- Travel between our sites and to employers as needed
Qualifications
What you’ll bring
- 1-3 years of hands-on workers’ compensation experience, ideally in an orthopaedic clinic or other healthcare setting
- Working knowledge of Kentucky workers’ compensation processes
- EMR proficiency, scheduling experience, and familiarity with HIPAA and medical terminology
- Comfort with reporting and analytics
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and ask for guidance when needed
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; clinical experience is a plus
