About the role
Marketing Director
About Raindrop Car Wash:
Raindrop Car Wash is a locally owned, family-operated car wash company serving communities across Alabama. We’re a growing, multi-location business focused on delivering exceptional customer experiences and building lasting relationships with our customers.
We’re looking for an exceptionally detail-oriented, analytical, and results-driven Marketing Director to take full ownership of our marketing function.
This is not a traditional marketing leadership position.
You’ll own marketing strategy, priorities, execution, and performance. However, this is currently an individual contributor role, meaning you’ll personally execute marketing initiatives rather than manage a team.
While Raindrop Car Wash will be your primary responsibility, you’ll also provide marketing support for our other company, Tradesman Docks.
We’re looking for someone who can independently identify opportunities, make sound decisions, and deliver measurable results without requiring constant direction from executive leadership.
If you’re someone who takes pride in flawless execution, loves digging into data, writes exceptionally well, and measures success by actual business results, this role may be an excellent fit.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
Your success will be measured primarily by two outcomes:
1. Increasing Customer Lifetime Value (LTV):
- Develop and execute marketing initiatives that improve member retention and reduce cancellations.
- Build and optimize automated SMS campaigns that increase customer engagement and retention.
- Analyze customer behavior and cancellation trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and optimize win back, reactivation, and membership upgrade campaigns.
- Plan on-site events and customer appreciation initiatives that strengthen member satisfaction and loyalty.
- Identify opportunities to increase customer value through improved retention, membership upgrades, and additional purchases.
2. Driving Retail Traffic:
- Develop and execute campaigns that generate additional paying customers at our locations.
- Personally manage and optimize Google Ads, Meta Ads, and other applicable marketing channels.
- Develop localized marketing strategies for individual car wash locations.
- Plan and execute on-site events, promotions, and community initiatives that drive retail traffic.
- Evaluate marketing initiatives based on incremental traffic, financial contribution, and profitability.
- In addition to leading marketing for Raindrop Car Wash, you’ll support marketing initiatives for Tradesman Docks.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing:
1. Marketing Execution:
- Build, launch, and optimize Google Ads and Meta Ads campaigns.
- Create and manage SMS marketing campaigns and CRM communications.
- Write compelling text messages, social media captions, advertising copy, and promotional content.
- Build marketing automations and customer communication workflows.
- Plan and coordinate on-site promotional events and customer appreciation initiatives.
- Coordinate marketing initiatives across multiple locations.
- Manage marketing vendors and external partners when necessary.
2. Analytics & Attribution:
- Establish clear methods for tracking marketing-generated revenue.
- Build and maintain marketing performance dashboards.
- Analyze campaign results to determine actual financial impact.
- Calculate campaign ROI and make recommendations based on profitability.
- Distinguish between attributed revenue and incremental revenue generated by marketing.
- Identify underperforming initiatives and quickly adjust or eliminate them.
- Continuously improve attribution accuracy and reporting reliability.
3. Organization & Quality Control:
- Maintain organized marketing calendars, campaign documentation, and project tracking.
- Ensure every campaign is thoroughly reviewed for accuracy before launch.
- Catch errors in copy, design, targeting, tracking, and reporting.
- Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously without sacrificing quality.
- Proactively identify problems and solve them without needing constant direction.
- Establish repeatable systems that improve execution quality and efficiency.
What We’re Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
- 1–3+ years of hands-on marketing experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing Google Ads and Meta Ads campaigns.
- Experience with CRM platforms, SMS marketing, and marketing automation.
- Strong analytical skills and experience measuring marketing performance.
- Exceptional short-form copywriting abilities, particularly SMS marketing and social media captions.
- Meticulous attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to consistently produce accurate, polished work.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
- Experience using data to make marketing decisions.
- Ability to work full-time from our office in Trussville, Alabama.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant marketing experience.
- Experience marketing for car washes, multi-location retail businesses, subscription businesses, or similar consumer-facing industries.
- Experience with customer retention, lifecycle marketing, and subscription revenue.
- Advanced experience with marketing attribution, analytics, and ROI measurement.
- Experience building SMS marketing automations and customer segmentation strategies.
- Experience independently managing marketing budgets and campaigns.
- Experience planning and executing on-site promotional events.
What Makes Someone Successful Here:
You obsess over the details.
You catch mistakes before they happen. Whether it’s a typo in a text message, an incorrect campaign setting, or a discrepancy in a report, you take personal responsibility for getting things right. You create systems that prevent errors rather than relying on others to catch them.
You care about revenue, not vanity metrics.
Impressions, clicks, and engagement mean very little without measurable business results. You know how to connect marketing activities to revenue, understand the limitations of attribution, and prioritize incremental financial impact.
You’re an exceptional short-form writer.
You communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively. You can write compelling text messages, social media captions, and promotional content that motivate customers to take action without sacrificing accuracy or clarity.
You’re a builder, not just a strategist.
You enjoy personally executing campaigns, analyzing results, solving problems, and improving systems. You don’t need a team to turn your ideas into results.
You take complete ownership.
You don’t wait to be told what needs improvement. You identify opportunities, establish priorities, develop solutions, and follow through until the work is complete. You know when to make decisions independently and when to involve leadership.
You’re analytical and financially minded.
You think about customer lifetime value, retention, incremental revenue, profitability, and return on investment—not just marketing activity.
You’re humble, coachable, and adaptable.
You welcome direct feedback, acknowledge mistakes, and continuously look for ways to improve. We move quickly and regularly adjust priorities as new information becomes available. You’re comfortable respectfully challenging decisions with sound reasoning, but once a direction is established, you adapt quickly and execute with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset.
You thrive in a growing business.
You’re adaptable, resourceful, organized, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
How We’ll Measure Your Success:
Your performance will be evaluated based on two primary business outcomes and one supporting measure:
1. Customer Lifetime Value (LTV):
Increase the expected financial value of each customer through improved retention, membership upgrades, and additional purchases.
2. Incremental Retail Traffic:
Generate additional paying retail customers who would not otherwise have visited Raindrop.
3. Execution Quality:
Maintain exceptional accuracy, timeliness, organization, and consistency in marketing execution.
We value accurate measurement. You’ll be expected to distinguish between results directly attributable to marketing, reasonable estimates of incremental impact, and outcomes that cannot be reliably attributed.
Marketing initiatives should create measurable financial value, not simply increase activity or revenue at the expense of profitability.
