About the role
COMPANY 🌱
RYZE was founded in 2019 by Andrée Werner and Rashad Hossain, out of a parents' basement, with a mission to change daily health, starting with the morning routine: a nutrient-dense mushroom coffee delivering clean energy, mental clarity, and immune support. Built on a Direct-to-Consumer foundation with a performance marketing engine, RYZE achieved hockey-stick growth and a community of over 1 million active subscribers.DTC remains the foundation, but RYZE has expanded into mass retail, quickly becoming the #2 items in Target's overall coffee category and is now executing a multi-channel expansion, with a cross-category launch coming in early 2027. RYZE is uniquely positioned to redefine how people think about daily wellness.
We’re a lean, fast-moving, mission-driven team who believe daily rituals create the foundation for living your greatest life, and we’re just getting started!
WHAT YOU'LL DO 🎯
The Materials Buyer owns day-to-day purchasing across raw materials (RM), packaging (PK), marketing materials (MM), shipping material (SH) and hard goods (HG) for our co-manufacturer and distribution network. You own reordering and the full PO lifecycle, resolve discrepancies and daily PO issues, and escalate to the Purchasing Manager when an issue needs a decision or puts supply at risk.
Responsibilities will include:
- Own reordering for RM, PK, MM, SH, and HG, placing orders with the right quantities and lead times.
- Work closely with suppliers and internal teams on first-time POs for new items to ensure on-time shipping and delivery.
- Own the PO lifecycle end to end (creation, confirmation, tracking, receipt, close-out), keeping NetSuite PO and transfer order status accurate.
- Own QA compliance before pickup: ensure the QA process is followed and all required approvals and testing (e.g., COA, pre-shipment samples, third-party testing) are complete before any shipment is released.
- Identify and resolve PO discrepancies (quantity, price, delivery date, receipt vs. PO) with suppliers, co-manufacturers, and internal teams.
- Resolve day-to-day PO issues such as late or short shipments, order changes, and documentation gaps.
- Escalate unresolved or supply-threatening issues to the Purchasing Manager with context and a recommended next step.
- Maintain supplier relationships and pricing adherence with Sourcing; track on-time delivery, quantity accuracy, and COA compliance.
- Maintain reports on open POs, PO aging, discrepancies, and supplier performance.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain execution within CPG, food & beverage, or adjacent industries
- Hands-on purchasing experience: you have placed POs, managed reorders, resolved discrepancies, and owned supplier follow-up personally
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills; able to resolve issues independently and know when to escalate
- Analytical skills, able to build and maintain open PO trackers and supplier performance dashboards
- Experience with ERP systems in a purchasing capacity; NetSuite strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
Preferred Qualifications (Not required but nice to have)
- Experience in powder, supplement, or functional food manufacturing, familiarity with ingredient complexity, certification requirements, and quality standards
- Experience managing tolling or consignment manufacturing arrangements
- Background working with agricultural or globally-sourced ingredients (mushroom powder, organic coffee, botanical extracts)
- Experience in a high-growth or startup environment where process is being built, not inherited
WHAT WE OFFER 🌟
- Competitive compensation aligned with experience and market benchmarks.
- Comprehensive benefits package
- Paid time off and company-observed holidays.
- Opportunities for professional growth and development.
- A collaborative, inclusive, and supportive work environment.
- Access to tools, resources, and training to support success in the role.
