Mechanical Operator (internal announcement)

Job purpose:

The Mechanical Operator is responsible for the safe operation, inspection, maintenance, and servicing of NPA mechanical assets used in mine action operations. The role ensures mechanical equipment remains fully operational and is deployed effectively in support of Technical Survey, clearance, and land-release activities while complying with NMAS and  NPA SOP. The Mechanical Operator contributes to operational effectiveness through safe machine operation, preventative maintenance, equipment care, and accurate reporting of mechanical activities.

Responsibilities:

General responsibilities:

• Work within the framework of NPA core values
• Adhere to all NPA policies, regulations and procedures
• Maintain and care for all equipment issued by NPA and for any loss or damage, you will be liable for repair or replacement
• Ensure safe and required quality of Mechanical operation while operating NPA Mech assets despite is it inside or outside NPA Survey and clearance task.
• Follow all verbal and/or written instructions, unless in direct violation of safety and duty of care
• Ensure a safe workplace and protect all staff and equipment from damage/ injury

Specific duties:

• Operate the machine safely as tasked by line maanger
• Conduct daily service checks of the machine as per the SOPs and guidelines to ensure it is in the best possible working order at all times taking into account all environment and safety measures.
• Maintain accurate records of his asset TS/clearance activities.
• Operate the machine in compliance with NPA SOPs and NMAS.
• Assist in the recovery procedures in the event of breakdown or failure within the minefield/task to prevent unnecessary further damage to the equipment.

• Submit accurate reports accordingly and in a timely manner
• Work in accordance with adhere to NPA Iraq SOP at all times.
• Ensure that PPE, tools and equipment assigned to him/her are clean, in working order and all items are present.
• Follow the instructions of the task and line management, expediently, safely and without objections.
•   Accept responsibility for his/her safety and act in a disciplined way at all times.
•   Report all safety concerns or any damaged or missed PPE, tools or equipment immediately to the Team Leader.
•   Other tasks given by the Team Leader or member of line management.

If assigned as a driver in addition to his/her position as Mechanical Operator, the Driver job description shall be attached and signed.

If Assigned Primary/Alternate Team Driver:

• Complete vehicle log sheets and submit to Fleet Office on the last working day of the month
• Ensure all vehicle legal documents kept on the vehicle such as registration, movement permissions, driver’s license, insurance details, etc
• Know and follow NPA Driver Vehicle SOP and Policy
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any issues to Team Leader and Logistic department
• Complete LDR/MFA or accident reports on vehicles in any required circumstances
• Conduct weekly vehicle washing and maintenance and keep vehicle clean of rubbish daily
• Assist Fleet Officer with vehicle re-fuelling and repairs as required
