Operations Support Team Lead

This is an opportunity for an experienced IT professional looking to take the next step in their career and help lead and develop our Operations Support team. We are open to candidates from a range of technical backgrounds, including DevOps, Platform Engineering, Software Development, Systems Administration, Cloud Engineering and Technical/Application Support.

The successful candidate will be accountable for: 

• Leading, guiding and supporting the Operations Support team.
• Mentoring junior engineers and supporting their development.
• Organising workload and ensuring 24/7 support coverage.
• Escalating and resolving complex or high-priority incidents.
• Monitoring live services to ensure platform stability and availability.
• Ensuring effective incident management and communication.
• Coordinating incident resolution across technical teams.
• Identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement.
• Collaborating with Development, DevOps, Infrastructure and Security teams to improve reliability.
• Maintaining product and technical knowledge and sharing expertise.
• Promoting proactive support, root-cause analysis and prevention of recurring issues.
  

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills: 

• Professional experience in DevOps, Software Development, Systems Administration, Cloud Engineering, Technical Support or a similar IT role.
• Previous team leadership or mentoring experience preferred, with consideration for engineers ready to step into leadership.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of applications and services in production environments.
• Ability to investigate issues using monitoring, logs and diagnostic tools.
• General knowledge of operating systems, networking and application technologies.
• Proactive ownership of issues through resolution or escalation.
• Strong communication and decision-making skills under pressure.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and develop their technical skills.
• Effective collaboration across technical teams.
• Degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Nice to have: 
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring or coordinating a technical team. 

• • Experience working within a production or 24/7 operational environment. 

• • Exposure to AWS or another major cloud platform. 

• • Exposure to Docker/Kubernetes. 

• • Experience with Windows and Linux environments. 

• • Familiarity with monitoring and log aggregation tools. 

• • Familiarity with programming or scripting and an ability to read and understand code. 

• • Exposure to configuration management, automation or Infrastructure as Code tools. 

• • Exposure to investigating and troubleshooting database and Salesforce related issues. 

• • Experience contributing to process improvements, automation or operational efficiency initiatives.
