About the role

Where You’ll Work

CHI Health St. Francis was established in Grand Island, Neb. in 1887. Today, our hospital is a regional referral center, with more than 100 physicians and more than 1,100 team members working together to build a healthier community. Our goal is to provide patients with high-quality medical care close to home, where they can be supported by their family, friends, and community.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Access Representative, you will serve as the essential first point of contact for patients, ensuring a seamless and positive healthcare experience. You will play a critical role in our revenue cycle by managing accurate patient registration, verifying insurance eligibility, and maintaining confidential documentation within our electronic health records. By facilitating smooth access-related workflows and collaborating with internal teams, you will help our facility maintain the highest standards of operational excellence and patient service.

Every day you will utilize multiple healthcare systems to schedule appointments, process medical records, and resolve registration or insurance discrepancies. You will engage with patients to communicate financial responsibilities, provide clear estimates of liabilities, and collect payments at the time of service. Your daily responsibilities will also include answering inquiries, routing calls, maintaining a professional front-office environment, and participating in team huddles to ensure all productivity and quality benchmarks are consistently met.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a high school diploma or GED and ideally have at least one year of relevant experience in a healthcare or patient access setting. You should have a solid foundation in computer software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and data entry, along with a strong understanding of insurance payers and real-time eligibility verification. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who excels in communication, upholds strict HIPAA privacy standards, and is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
