The Platform Engineer is an entry-level engineering role responsible for learning and supporting the platforms, tools, and technologies that enable GreatAmerica's business and technology operations. • Support incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Follow established security, compliance, and operational controls.
  • Document work activities, processes, configurations, and solutions using established standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technology teams, vendors, and business partners to support platform-related initiatives.
  • Build understanding of how platform services support business operations and technology outcomes.
  • Learn to identify and escalate issues originating from upstream systems, vendors, integrations, or dependencies.

To be successful in this role you will need:

Preferred skills:

  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and IT service management practices (Jira/ServiceNow)
  • Familiarity with source control tools (GitHub/Bitbucket/Azure DevOps) and basic Git workflows
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code concepts (Terraform)

  • Exposure to basic scripting (Bash/Python) for everyday automation tasks
  • Basic programming or scripting ability (.NET/Java/JavaScript/TypeScript)
  • Exposure to networking fundamentals (DNS, HTTP/S, load balancing, basic firewall/security group concepts)
  • Basic awareness of how monitoring and alerting can surface failures originating outside the platform being monitored
  • Interest in financial services, banking, or regulated-industry technology
