About the role
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Department of Geography and Resource Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). The appointee will join the research team led by Professor Sylvia He and contribute to research on transport electrification, with particular emphasis on electric vehicle (EV) charging behavior, charging infrastructure planning, and mobility data analytics. The lab aims to produce innovative, policy-relevant research suitable for publication in leading international journals, including high-impact interdisciplinary journals.
Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in Transportation Engineering, Transport Geography, Urban Analytics, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or a closely related field; (ii) demonstrated research experience in transport electrification, such as EV charging behavior, charging demand modelling, or charging infrastructure planning and optimization; (iii) strong expertise in processing, managing, and analysing large-scale GPS trajectory or other mobility datasets; (iv) solid skills in transportation modelling, spatial analysis, statistical modelling, machine learning, or related quantitative methods; and (v) an excellent publication record, including at least three first-authored articles published or accepted for publication in Q1 journals.
Applicants should have a strong passion for transport electrification and research interests that align closely with Professor Sylvia He’s recent research agenda. Further information about Professor He’s research and publications is available on her webpage: https://www.grm.cuhk.edu.hk/en/profile/syhe/
We particularly welcome self-motivated, intellectually curious, and ambitious candidates who can develop original research ideas, work both independently and collaboratively, and aspire to produce impactful research.
Experience in preparing competitive research grant proposals will be an advantage. Strong academic writing skills, the ability to conduct research independently, and experience working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research team are also expected.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) analysing large-scale trajectory and mobility datasets; (b) developing transport- and EV-related models; (c) conducting research on EV charging behavior and infrastructure planning; (d) preparing manuscripts for publication in leading international journals; (e) contributing to grant proposal development; and (f) undertaking other research-related duties as assigned. The apointee will be encouraged to develop ambitious research with the potential for publication in highly selective interdisciplinary outlets.
