What we do at Weir

We are a global leader in mining technology for a sustainable future. We help our customers extract the resources the world needs more efficiently and more sustainably. Our planet’s future depends on the transition to renewable energy, and that transition can only happen with the metals and minerals our customers deliver. So, we work side by side with mines across the globe to move less rock, use less energy, use water wisely, and create less waste. Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.

Make your impact

You’ll play a key role in solving real-world challenges. You’ll apply your skills to deliver results that matter whether that’s through engineering, planning or customer support. You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.

What you’ll do

• Technical Investigation: Act as a technical investigator diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical issues, particularly in pump systems, to prevent costly equipment failures and downtime.

• Operational Efficiency: Assess Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of pump systems daily, focusing on availability, performance, and quality, benchmarking against industry KPIs.

• Reliability & Failure Analysis: Define and monitor failure modes such as impeller wear and bearing assembly issues; track failure frequency and causes annually to identify trends and improve system reliability.

• Predictive Maintenance: Collaborate with condition monitoring teams to implement and validate predictive maintenance tools and strategies, including Life Cycle Costing.

• Maintenance Strategy: Evaluate and apply Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles to develop optimal maintenance strategies for pump systems.

• Inventory Management: Review and optimize spare parts inventory to ensure availability of critical components while minimizing excess stock.

• Performance & Energy Optimization: Support projects aimed at improving pump system reliability and energy efficiency, contributing to sustainability and cost reduction goals.

• Proactive Issue Identification: Identify and mitigate potential issues before they result in pump failures, ensuring continuous system performance.

• Team Collaboration: Work closely with reliability engineers and maintenance teams to foster a unified approach to reliability and knowledge sharing.

• Training & Development: Monitor and support training programs designed to build reliability expertise within maintenance teams.

• Cost-Benefit Analysis: Evaluate ROI and cost-effectiveness of reliability improvement initiatives to ensure impactful investments.

• Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required to collaborate with teams and conduct site assessments.
