ABOUT THE ROLE

The Paint I will prepare the truck for paint by sanding, grinding, waxing, greasing, and applying body filler. They must inspect the truck for flaws, dents, or imperfections and compare it to the spec book to ensure standards are met. They will be expected to maintain the condition and quality of your tools.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer. 

 

1. Surface Preparation and Paint Support: Prepare fire apparatus for paint by sanding, grinding, applying body filler, masking components, and performing other surface preparation activities. Follow established specifications and work instructions to ensure vehicles are properly prepared for paint application.
2. Vehicle Finishing, Detailing, and Delivery Preparation:
   Clean, polish, wax, and detail vehicle surfaces to enhance appearance and support final delivery requirements. Perform interior and exterior cleaning, detailing, touch-up, and presentation activities to ensure apparatus meet Rosenbauer appearance standards and customer expectations. Prepare completed apparatus for customer inspections, demonstrations, deliveries, trade shows, and other events by verifying cleanliness, presentation quality, and readiness. Install required accessories and components, including pump intake and discharge caps, adapters, nozzles, and other delivery items as directed.
3. Quality Inspection and Defect Identification: Inspect apparatus for flaws, dents, imperfections, paint defects, missing components, incomplete work, and other quality concerns. Compare completed work to specifications and communicate findings to appropriate personnel for resolution.
4. Production and Quality Support: Collaborate with Production, Paint, and Quality teams to identify, communicate, and resolve cosmetic and quality-related concerns. Support rework activities and final appearance improvements as needed to meet company and customer expectations.
5. Tools, Equipment, and Supply Maintenance: Maintain departmental tools, detailing equipment, materials, and supplies in proper working condition. Ensure work areas remain organized, clean, and adequately stocked to support daily operations.
6. Facility and Customer Presentation Standards: Maintain wash bay, showroom, and assigned work areas in a clean, organized, and professional condition. Support customer-facing activities by ensuring facilities and apparatus consistently reflect Rosenbauer quality standards.
7. Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required to support departmental objectives and organizational needs. Maintain flexibility and adaptability to address changing production priorities and customer requirements.

 

Tools to be utilized:

Hand tools, power tools, grinders, air buffer/sander, and air blowers.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

K	Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience: High school diploma/GED. Strong mechanical and technical ability required. Associate degree in autobody preferred. 2+ years of experience in autobody preferred. Manufacturing experience preferred.
S	Skills: Language: Able to follow written and verbal directions. Math: Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Computer: Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.
A	Abilities: Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed. Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines. Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment. Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
