Senior Research Engineer - Next generation Wi-Fi (m/f/d)

Your mission

· Conduct innovative research on next-generation Wi-Fi modems integrated with fiber-to-the-room (FTTR) technologies for scalable, high-capacity and low-latency in-building networks with dependable coverage

· Develop and test PHY layer Wi-Fi algorithms and architectures for sub-7 GHz bands (IEEE 802.11bn) and mmWave bands (IEEE 802.11bq), to improve quality of experience based on realistic indoor channel models and validated through selected lab experiments

· Extend the research to selected MAC layer concepts and architectures supporting centralized coordination and decentralized AI in converged fiber-Wi-Fi networks

· Employ AI to accelerate innovation in system and algorithm performance and power consumption

Key qualifications

· PhD degree in Electrical / Communications Engineering at a recognized university on the topic of wireless communication or related fields.

· Deep experience with Wi-Fi or 3GPP communication systems (PHY layer focus; MAC layer knowledge is a plus), digital signal processing, information theory and machine learning. Experience with optical communication systems is a plus.

· Proficiency in Python or C and industry-standard simulation tools; experience in coding with LLMs.

· Professional working proficiency in English.
