About the role
Position Purpose:
Senior Technician Rigging 3 is responsible for assisting the rigging team with operational duties and may assist in the construction,
installation, and maintenance of all telecommunications network structures within our telecommunications network, and to ensure the defined
standard criteria are met.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all customer and backhaul
microwave links are continuously
operational for provision of services, and
meet optimal performance requirements.
- Assist when required, through routine and
corrective maintenance – the availability,
efficiency, and best performance of the
microwave networks and links.
- Assist in forecasting and planning for the
expansion of the microwave network.
- Assist the mobile, satellite, and fibre
teams when required in achieving the
overall objectives of the department.
- Assist in rigging activities when required
and resolve identified faults in a
reasonable timeframe.
- Provide support for projects, as and when
required.
- Ensure that any installations,
modifications, or maintenance work
adheres to recognised standards and
performance.
- Prepare and submit periodical summary
updates and reports to the Manager
Transmission through supervisors on the
performance of Transmission activities and provide separate reports, as and when required.
- Ensure that there are sufficient spares
stored at specified company locations.
- Support all company policies, goals, and
objectives
- Engage and participate in planning
discussions.
- Assist the team in improving staff
engagement points by providing support
and participation in team activities.
- Identify and recommend areas of
development to better equip staff with
knowledge and skills.
- Safety wear at work
- Safety travel plans: weather-wise, location
wise, all information must be known
beforehand to plan carefully.
Requirements
Competency ( Skills, knowledge & experience):
- 5 years of extensive experience
- Knowledge of telecommunications, electrical, or electronic-related concepts
- Knowledge and experience in the operation of Transmission and radio access equipment.
- Ability to implement solutions in a telecommunications environment.
- Ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills and ability to grasp modern technology quickly.
- Ability to work at heights.
Mandatory Certification:
- Certificate or Diploma in Technical Trades from an accredited and recognised institution.
