This is an opportunity to make a meaningful technical impact while shaping the future of cloud infrastructure and operational excellence.
Accountabilities
- Design, deploy, maintain, and optimize secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure, primarily using AWS and other relevant cloud technologies.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, troubleshoot technical issues, maintain service availability, and provide timely support for critical incidents, including off-hours support when required.
- Evaluate and prioritize infrastructure requests from multiple business units by assessing technical complexity, business value, and operational impact.
- Develop, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar tools to automate application delivery and infrastructure provisioning.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code practices using Terraform, establishing reusable infrastructure components and standardized deployment patterns.
- Oversee application deployments and releases across staging and production environments, ensuring consistency, reliability, and minimal disruption.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including infrastructure reference architectures, standard operating procedures, deployment workflows, troubleshooting guides, and incident resolution procedures.
- Identify and implement cloud cost optimization strategies while maintaining performance, availability, and security standards.
- Ensure cloud infrastructure and operational processes comply with applicable regulatory frameworks, including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR, as well as internal security policies.
- Collaborate with external Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to oversee service delivery, validate technical recommendations, and align cloud operations with business and security objectives.
- Assess and implement emerging cloud-native AI services and AI-driven operational tools to improve monitoring, automate defect triage, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Support and maintain customer-facing services, including APIs, Software as a Service (SaaS), and Data as a Service (DaaS) platforms.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible, hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructure and operations, with strong expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Demonstrated experience administering Linux and Windows Server environments, including server maintenance, system configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, S3, IAM, CodeDeploy, CloudWatch, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, VPC, Application Load Balancer (ALB), CloudFront, MSK, SQS, SNS, and CloudFormation.
- Experience with server and container image creation and management using tools such as Packer, Docker, and EC2 Image Builder.
- Hands-on experience supporting CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or comparable automation tools.
- Familiarity with Windows-based application environments, including IIS, Active Directory, .NET, and related technologies.
- Basic SQL administration skills and experience managing database technologies such as Amazon RDS, Aurora, and DynamoDB.
- Experience managing networking in hybrid environments, including routing, firewalls, load balancing, and connectivity.
- Strong automation and configuration management skills, with practical experience implementing Infrastructure as Code and repeatable operational processes.
- Understanding of cloud architecture design, infrastructure security, system reliability, and advanced monitoring solutions.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with technical teams, senior leadership, external partners, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation and explain complex concepts to different audiences.
- A proactive, adaptable, and self-directed approach to learning new technologies and applying them to operational challenges.
- Familiarity with Jira and other Atlassian products is an advantage.
- An AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification, or an equivalent qualification, is preferred.
- Additional preferred experience includes designing Amazon cloud architectures, supporting customer-facing API, SaaS, and DaaS services, and implementing advanced monitoring solutions for cloud-based systems.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada or the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future. Employment-based visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Competitive salary: Estimated annual compensation of CAD $100,000–$135,000 for candidates hired in Canada. The final offer may vary depending on experience, education, certifications, skills, responsibilities, geographic location, and other business considerations.
- Fully remote work: Work from anywhere in Canada or the continental United States, subject to applicable employment and work authorization requirements.
- Professional growth: Opportunities to expand expertise in cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, AI-driven operations, and emerging cloud-native technologies.
- Technical ownership: The opportunity to influence cloud infrastructure standards, architecture decisions, operational practices, and long-term platform improvements.
