Structural Welder

Skillforce is hiring Structural Welders for ongoing project work in Northwest Washington, DC. As a Structural Welder, you will be responsible for field welding a steel staircase, its landings, and its rails. This role requires you to bring your own welding machine to the job site.

Structural Welder Pay:

• $60.00 per hour.
• W-2 employment with weekly pay.

Structural Welder Schedule:

• Day shift with a standard morning start.
• Full-shift hours on a single job site in Northwest Washington, DC.

Structural Welder Responsibilities:

• Field weld steel stair stringers to landings, embed plates, and the supporting structure.
• Set, plumb, and weld handrail and guardrail posts to the heights shown on the drawings.
• Weld handrails, guardrails, and pickets, then grind exposed welds smooth and clean.
• Read drawings and take field measurements to fit stair and rail components on site.
• Set up and run your own welding machine, leads, and grinders using the power available on site.
• Follow hot work, fire watch, and site safety practices throughout every shift.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe at the end of each day.

Structural Welder Qualifications:

• You own a working welding machine and bring it to the job site with your leads, stinger, ground clamp, and grinders.
• You have field welding experience on structural steel, miscellaneous metals, steel stairs, or railings.
• You can run stick welds with 7018 rod in the vertical and overhead positions.
• MIG or flux-core experience is a plus for rail and picket work.
• An AWS D1.1 structural welding certification is preferred.
• You have reliable transportation to get yourself and your equipment to Northwest Washington, DC each workday.
• You are authorized to work in the United States.
