In this role, you will be directly involved in bidding generation assets into the NEM, analysing market outcomes, and assessing the operational and financial performance of our solar and battery assets.

This is an excellent opportunity for an electricity industry professional, currently working as a Market Analyst or Trade Analyst, who is keen to deepen their exposure to battery storage and spot market operations as part of Australia’s energy transition.

The role includes shift‑based work aligned with peak NEM operating hours, including some non‑business days, reflecting the nature of real‑time market operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Operations

  • Contribute to the development of bidding strategies for solar and battery assets
  • Execute bidding strategies in the NEM
  • Support dispatch oversight, optimisation and ancillary services participation for BESS and solar assets

Market & Asset Analysis

  • Analyse NEM spot market outcomes and competitor behaviour
  • Review operational and financial performance of solar and battery assets
  • Provide insights and recommendations to inform future spot market strategies

Market Intelligence & Modelling

  • Analyse forward electricity and renewable certificate markets
  • Research industry, regulatory and market developments impacting the NEM
  • Develop and maintain analytical tools, models and datasets to support spot trading and decision‑making

Collaboration

  • Work closely with Operations & Maintenance and Finance teams to support optimal commercial and operational outcomes

Prerequisites:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Science or a related discipline

Experience

  • 2–3 years’ experience in the electricity industry
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis or market analytics

Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of coding and analytical tools such as Python, SQL and/or R
  • Strong quantitative and problem‑solving capability

Personal Attributes

  • Curious and proactive in understanding market dynamics
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, operationally driven environment
