Transportation Coordinator

This is a transportation and logistics coordination role supporting Large Scale project shipments from import through delivery to site. We are looking for candidates with hands on experience coordinating freight, carriers, and shipment tracking.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Transportation Coordinator provides front line support to the Transportation Analysts and Transportation Manager, moving SMA’s Large Scale project shipments from import through delivery to customer sites across North America. The role enters and tracks shipments, keeps rates and transit times accurate in the Transportation Management System, and serves as the link between customers, carriers, and third party logistics partners. The ideal candidate brings strong coordination skills, attention to detail, and the ability to resolve shipment issues quickly in a fast paced environment. This position is remote and requires availability during the Transportation team’s core business hours.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enter shipments into the Transportation Management System, TMS.
- Track and trace shipments in transit and resolve problems as they occur.
- Coordinate Large Scale projects from import through delivery to site.
- Handle tasks and projects with a higher level of complexity.
- Maintain accurate records of items transported between locations.
- Report on delivery timelines and any delays.
- Act as the liaison between customers and carriers to keep shipments on schedule.
- Support maintenance of the TMS, including rates and transit times.
- Support customs related activities as needed.
- Other duties as may be required or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a coordination or administrative role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a high pressure environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer service focus.
- Residence within the continental United States, with the ability to work core business hours on a consistent basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a transportation or logistics department.
- Experience with SAP or a Transportation Management System.
- Experience working with freight carriers, imports, or customs.
- Creative thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
