About the role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Oracle Apps DBA based in India.

The Oracle Apps DBA will play a critical role in maintaining, optimizing, and supporting Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) environments to ensure reliable and efficient business operations.
You will manage end-to-end administration across EBS R12.1 and R12.2 platforms, including cloning, patching, upgrades, and performance optimization.
Working in a production support environment, you will proactively monitor systems, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and ensure timely resolution in line with service-level agreements (SLAs).
You will collaborate closely with application, development, functional, infrastructure, and client teams to maintain system availability and operational stability.
The role also involves database administration, backup and recovery, maintenance planning, technical documentation, and root cause analysis.
This is an opportunity to apply your Oracle expertise in a remote, client-focused environment that values accountability, technical excellence, and clear communication.
The position is full-time and remote within India, with working hours from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM IST; candidates available to join immediately are preferred.

Accountabilities:

  • Administer, maintain, and support Oracle E-Business Suite environments, particularly EBS R12.1 and R12.2.x, ensuring system availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Perform environment cloning, refreshes, upgrades, and post-cloning configuration and validation activities.
  • Plan, execute, and coordinate application and database patching, including CPU, PSU, AD, and TXK patches, while following established maintenance procedures.
  • Support Oracle EBS 12.2 online patching using ADOP, including patch-cycle management, downtime planning, and troubleshooting where applicable.
  • Monitor production environments, investigate incidents, and resolve issues involving application components, databases, concurrent managers, workflows, WebLogic, and system performance.
  • Perform Oracle database administration tasks, including health checks, backup and recovery, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Analyze and optimize database queries, application performance, JVM configurations, and concurrent processing to improve system efficiency.
  • Support Oracle RAC and Data Guard environments where applicable, helping maintain availability and business continuity.
  • Manage support tickets throughout their lifecycle, providing timely updates, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring adherence to agreed SLAs.
  • Collaborate with functional consultants, developers, infrastructure teams, and client stakeholders to diagnose issues, coordinate resolutions, and minimize operational disruption.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, client meetings, and technical discussions, communicating progress, risks, dependencies, and planned activities clearly.
  • Prepare root cause analysis (RCA) reports, document environment changes, and maintain standard operating procedures, technical runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Assist with basic development-support activities when required, including forms and reports deployments, file transfers, and compilation tasks.
  • Support proactive system monitoring and automation initiatives, leveraging tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) where available.
  • Contribute to cloud hosting or migration activities involving Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or AWS, where required.
  • Requirements:

  • Have 6–10 years of relevant professional experience, with strong hands-on expertise in Oracle Applications Database Administration and production support.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite R12.1 and R12.2 administration, including application-tier components, concurrent managers, workflows, and system configuration.
  • Possess practical experience in EBS cloning, environment refreshes, patching, upgrades, and post-clone activities.
  • Understand Oracle EBS patching technologies and processes, including AD, TXK, CPU, PSU, and ADOP-based online patching.
  • Have a solid understanding of Oracle Database 12c and 19c architecture, database monitoring, backup and recovery, and performance optimization.
  • Demonstrate experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and shell scripting for administration, troubleshooting, and automation.
  • Possess working knowledge of Oracle WebLogic Server, Oracle HTTP Server (OHS), application-tier services, JVM tuning, and concurrent processing.
  • Be skilled in diagnosing complex application and database issues, conducting performance analysis, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions within defined timelines.
  • Understand backup and recovery procedures, including Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN), and be capable of supporting recovery scenarios.
  • Have experience monitoring production environments, managing incident tickets, meeting SLA commitments, and preparing clear technical documentation and RCA reports.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and internal teams, providing proactive updates and participating consistently in meetings and stand-ups.
  • Be self-directed, reliable, and accountable, with excellent time management, prioritization, and workload management skills.
  • Be comfortable working independently in a remote environment while coordinating with distributed technical and client-facing teams.
  • Preferred qualifications: Exposure to Oracle Enterprise Manager, OCI or AWS hosting and migration, third-party integrations, and advanced EBS online patching practices.
  • Be available to work from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM IST. Immediate availability is preferred.
  • Benefits:

  • Remote work: Fully remote opportunity within India, offering flexibility in work location.
  • Full-time employment: Opportunity to contribute to ongoing Oracle EBS administration and production support activities.

  • Professional development: Build on your expertise in Oracle EBS administration, online patching, performance tuning, and cloud-related technologies.
  • Operational ownership: Take responsibility for production stability, service-level performance, technical documentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Working schedule: Fixed evening and night shift from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM IST.
  • Salary and additional benefits: Compensation details, healthcare coverage, paid leave, bonuses, insurance, and other employment perks have not been specified in the available job description and should be confirmed during the recruitment process.
