Team Lead - Senior C# Software Engineer

Summary

We’re looking for a senior software engineer who wants to lead a team while staying hands-on with C# and .NET.

You’ll lead a team of 9 engineers working on services that are part of the ESET XDR platform. The team owns the full software lifecycle, from architecture and development through CI/CD and monitoring to 3rd-level production support.

Job description

As Team Lead, you’ll be responsible for the people in the team, including regular 1:1s, feedback, performance reviews, goals, career development and compensation.

Around 30% of your time will be focused on team leadership. The rest will be hands-on software engineering. You’ll continue to design, implement and review software, help solve complex technical problems and keep an eye on the architectural direction of the services owned by the team.

The team works mainly with C# and .NET 10 and builds backend microservices, APIs, integrations and supporting infrastructure for the ESET XDR platform.

You’ll work closely with other senior engineers, architects, Product Owners, Security and engineering teams across ESET. You’ll have room to influence technical decisions while working in a team with several experienced engineers.

This is a good fit if you enjoy both sides of the role: leading people and still being an active software engineer.

What you’ll do

Team leadership:

* Lead a team of 9 engineers and help create an environment where people can grow and do their best work

* Hold regular 1:1s, provide feedback and support individual development

* Set and follow up on individual goals and development plans

* Lead performance reviews and contribute to compensation decisions

* Support the team in solving day-to-day challenges and work with Product Owners on priorities and delivery

* Collaborate with other engineering teams across ESET

Cloud & software engineering:

* Design, implement and maintain backend microservices and APIs using C# and .NET 10

* Stay hands-on with development, code reviews, debugging and technical problem solving

* Design and evolve distributed systems and APIs, considering scalability, reliability, maintainability and operational impact

* Help define and maintain the architecture of services owned by the team

* Work on API gateways, Syslog export services and integration management for the ESET XDR platform

* Evaluate technical approaches, discuss trade-offs and help the team make sound engineering decisions

* Improve code quality, development practices, CI/CD and observability

* Troubleshoot complex production issues and support services through their full lifecycle

* Work with other senior engineers and architects on cross-team technical decisions

* Consider security requirements and work with Security when designing and changing services

* Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical discussions and day-to-day collaboration

What we expect:

* Several years of experience in software engineering, with strong hands-on experience in production environments

* Strong experience with C# and .NET, ideally .NET 10

* Experience designing and developing backend microservices and APIs

* Good understanding of distributed systems, including scalability, reliability, resilience and service-to-service communication

* Experience designing and evolving software architecture for production systems

* Ability to identify technical trade-offs and explain design decisions clearly

* Experience with CI/CD and modern software development practices

* Experience with containers and Docker

* Experience with monitoring, logging and troubleshooting production systems

* Understanding of software security and secure development practices

* Ability to work across the full software lifecycle, from design and development through deployment and production support

* Good communication skills and the ability to give and receive feedback

* Experience leading engineers and supporting their professional development. Previous formal people-management experience is a strong advantage.

* Fluent English for daily communication
